Tucked away in a corner of Bishan Park lies a very nondescript little building, probably one you would not take a second glance at as you pass. But this humble little place houses some of the most delicious burger buns I've ever tasted! Yet, anything worth getting comes with a worthy pursuit.

First of all, there is the problem of getting there. It is located near the lake of Bishan Park. There is a little carpark nearby, but for those of us unfortunate not to have the luxury of being chauffeured around, getting there is no easy task. With the help of Google Maps, however, the problem was quite easily (and thankfully, quickly) solved!

Getting there: I took bus 410 from right outside Raffles Junior College, all the way to this bus stop called Opp Bishan Park Sec. From there, just walk along the pavement, along the direction of traffic, and turn left when you see the sign "Bishan Park" pointing left (obvious, isn't it?) From there, you would see a small white building and you have to muster all your will to resist running towards the glorious food awaiting you.

When Regi and I arrived, it was still quite empty, save for four or five groups of diners. It was about 6pm, and the dinner crowd had yet to arrive. I was quite relieved, as I read reviews ranting about how they had to wait close to an hour to get seated?!? Yep, so go early if you'd like to beat the crowds!

We were given a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Without hesitation, we chose to sit indoors, but later realised that outdoor seating would have been much more conducive for taking photos because *~*natural lighting*~*! They used lots of yellow lights inside, so photos came out a bit...not as nice as with natural lighting would have done hahaha.

We ordered a Crispy Fish Burger, GRUB Cheeseburger and churros for dessert.

Crispy Fish Burger ($14)
The fish was fried really nicely, not over-greased/over-oiled/over-fattened at all. However, it got a little dry towards the end. What I really enjoyed was the burger bun. The top bun was toasted to a crisp! You probably can't tell from the photo, but the bottom of the top bun was oh-so-perfectly charred! The same goes for the bun in the cheeseburger. Both Regi and I thought the bun was stellar.

GRUB Cheeseburger ($13) was not bad as well. I only got to try a small portion of the patty, but it was flavourful, though a little bit dry as well! :-(

The burgers came with a little cup of fries each. The fries were delicious! Fried till golden brown and served in sleek, svelte strips. Crispy and didn't turn soggy at all, even after finishing my burger, they retained their freshness. It was very well worth the guilt of eating French fries, the mother of all junk foods.

Finally, the Churros ($9) came, with a side of dark chocolate dip and this other milky, cream-based dip. I felt the dark chocolate dip was a bit too bitter for my liking, but Regi liked it. The milky creamy dip wasn't too bad, but it really takes some getting used to. I, for one, am not usually accustomed to eating custard-y cream (think Provence's milk pans) so I didn't quite feel good eating that haha. But the churros by themselves are really nice! Only wished that they would be more generous with the sugar sprinkled on the churros, and it tasted a bit bland at certain portions/regions.

The total bill came up to be $42.30 for the both of us, inclusive of taxes and service charge. I guess it is a rather reasonable price, since service was attentive and very obliging. :-) I would definitely return to try the other items on their menu!

Regi and I went for a walk around Bishan Park after dinner, and it did wonders in helping our food digest nicely. It's a great way to work off (ish) those extra calories and enjoy your dining companion's company. Thus, I'd say GRUB is an excellent choice for a date/night out with friends or family!
