Yesterday marked my eighteenth year of existence on this Earth and it was one of the best birthdays I have ever had.

I'm not usually a big fan of my own birthday because I like being the youngest of my friends (haha quite a dumb reason) but mostly because I feel very awkward as a recipient of birthday stuff and I just don't like so much attention on myself. I much prefer planning and celebrating other people's birthdays and fuss over them!

This year was really special because some of my best friends celebrated it with me :-) Most years, I'm on vacation overseas with family so I never really get to celebrate it much with friends so that made this year extra memorable! Also, I have never had a clique before WFKW/League of Dignified Men so I never expected friends to come together to plan a surprise for me. Usually, I just go out with one friend and spend quality time with her! But this year, I was kind of expecting the guys to do something for me haha okay mostly because Wei Ze asked me if I had any plans that day. How direct.

Anyway, my birthday kinda started from the night of the 22nd. I met Vint Seng for dinner at Bedok Mall and had a surprisingly good time with him! Our friendship is really strange and I do regret not getting to deepen it in Year 6 but I guess I'm still glad we are quite all right friends now. More than acquaintances, at least.

Then, I met Kai and we tried to figure out how to use Uber to get to East Coast Park for night cycling!!! I'm kind of lazy to write alllll about it so here's a condensed version of what I want to remember, 5 years on as I read this blog entry:

Thank you for last night and this morning! It was truly a night to remember :-) From trying to figure out how Uber worked, getting lost in the CBD and cycling through atas office buildings, being unimpressed by Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay, summiting Mount Marina Barrage and singing me a birthday song at 12.01am, lying on grass and talking about the Future, laughing about so many weird things together, getting our asses sprayed by the ninja water sprinklers that suddenly decided to be turned on, bring awed by passing aeroplanes just above our heads, telling me that you told your mom I was "a good girlfriend material" LOL, crashing into me causing me to flip over and fly onto the ground, helping (forcing) me to wash my wound, racing back to beat the rain against the lightning, groaning endlessly because of the compressed Gion Kwok, crashing on the rocks by the beach, crazy-ass winds nearly blowing us off said rocks, experiencing homelessness until 6am when midnight surcharge for cabs stop, McDonald's birthday breakfast, sleeping in odd and uncomfortable positions on the trains while crossing 3 different train lines, forcing me to sleep so you can make my card and ordering me back to sleep when I woke up and you weren't done, there is no one else I would rather have done all these with. And finally, when you gave me the Star, I was just so overwhelmed! I'm sorry I didn't give you the reaction you perhaps had hoped for, but I know you know that I am so so so so thankful to have found a best friend in you.

Starting point!
We took a similar photo here last year during our Tune In publicity photoshoot stunt!! But tonight the real reason you wanted a photo here is so your brown hair can be seen. 🌚
Normal camera
vs. Front camera :(
At this point, we were outside some fancy CBD building which didn't allow cyclists and were quite hopelessly lost.
Stopped by Gardens by the Bay to see their Christmas Wonderland decorations and was quite unimpressed. Maybe because it was just too hot so the Christmas vibes weren't that great.
U-turned back to ECP just before some barricade forcing us into a dead end!
If you look carefully, you can see the lump which is Qing Kai hahaha. I couldn't sleep on the rocks no matter how hard I tried, I don't know how he does it.

We went to his house to wash up in the morning, and then he forced me to sleep so that he could prepare my gift. I didn't mind all that much haha it was quite sweet actually, (if you ignore the part that the gift was done last-minute...) and his bed was really comfy! It was all four-poster bed and silk sheets and everything o my.

This was the Star that he so proudly gave me, haha! It's kind of like a Christmas tree ornament, the star they put at the top! As I was sleeping, I could hear him cutting the paper/cardboard and all hehehe. It's really the effort that went into making this that brought me (close) to tears. I never would have expected him (he probably wouldn't expect himself too either) to have put so much effort in making a birthday card so I felt really loved. :) :) :) TY Kai I luv u.
Then we went to Wisma Atria for shiok maki lunch with Wei Ze and Nicholas. This is them preparing my birthday card right in front of me HAHAHA. But I forgive them because the card is really awesome!!! Nic did the illustrations and it was so so so cute I really loved it!! Better than all the band concert programme booklets LOL. Anyway I'm just so grateful that they went to such great pain and length to assemble this for me. :'-)
The candle thing is brilliant, no?!?!?!!!
Some of my favourite pages of the card. The messages themselves were also very honest and touching which is vastly different from the kind of BS we engage in on a regular basis, so that was special and made me cry, too. As Khiamz said, I have a low melting point haha!!

Then, my family and I went to Kabe No Ana at Jurong Point for dinner! I've always wanted to try their mentaiko pasta and while it wasn't as delicious as I had expected, it was a good dinner!
Mom specially bought a jar of tiramisu from Awfully Chocolate for me, and I blew out the candle at exactly 11.53pm :-) This year, I really hope birthday wishes come true.
My Polar wishing me a happy birthday!!

So, that more or less made up the best birthday I've had. :)

Now that A Levels are done and dusted (well, till March) for me, I thought it appropriate to journal how the past month has been!

(Okay, scrolling through the photos, it seems I haven't been very conscientious in capturing snippets of everyday life but that's because it's mostly been just studying. Either way, let's see what is there!)

NYAA Gold Award Presentation Ceremony - I shook President Tony Tan's hand for a good three seconds and he presented me with this lovely (empty) golden scroll. Ya, that was basically it. The NYAA Gold Award Holders' Alumni (GAHA) sounds pretty interesting, though. They let youth participate in all sorts of cool service stuff both within the community and internationally! I want to get involved in the GAHA now that A's are over because, why not? And not everyone has this opportunity!

6-hour lunch with Hansol after Chem Paper 2 - Rollie Olie's maki rolls are delicious but terribly expensive and not very worth the exorbitant price. It was kinda crowded but we didn't feel like parting just yet so we went to a Korean restaurant for dessert! Red bean bingsu was good and we had a heated debate over whether the kimchi they served was spicy or sour (yes we had banchan after dessert LOL) This was the first time I met up with Hansol since Victoria's birthday in September and it felt SO GOOD to see her again :) Some things never change!

Most of my non-exam days were spent studying at Hullet Memorial Library with Kai. This is him being distracted by manga lol I can't and probably never will understand his fascination with manga/anime/gaming :/

After Chem Paper 3 (hell week), WFKW caught 我的少女时代 at Cathay! I was really looking forward to the ~emotional release~ as I heard a lot of people cried after watching it hehe and so it seemed a good idea to watch it after hell week of A's! The cinema was filled with JC kids probably celebrating the end of hell week as well, and we ended up in a row quite near the screen :( but it was still good. I tried to control myself but ended up "sobbing" at the heart-wrenching bits. Apparently the bunch of guys sitting next to us were laughing at me 🌚 and Wei Ze was about to tear but seeing me sob made him laugh 🌚 Whatevs, at least it means I got to enjoy the full emotional experience of the movie!!! I really enjoyed it la, 10/10 would watch it again 8)

Hell week was coincidentally the last week on my makeshift organiser (which I used for my prelim study schedule as well on the other side lol!). The release I felt when I threw it away was awesome yet scary at the same time! After all, this piece of (by then, tattered) paper dictated my life for the past 2+ months. Without it,,,,,,,,,it just felt weird.

Dragged my parents to J8's food court for the la mian because it was just too good not to share. The chef is from China and the noodles are hand-pulled and everything! You can see that from the uneven thickness of the noodles! He is really friendly and chatty too hehe it makes buying from his stall such a pleasure!

Went shopping for prom dress with the mother and brother in town, and he got a super long chocolate-filled churro! I've been spending more time and showing more love to JB recently and our relationship has improved heaps :)

DTF with familyyyyy (at this point in time I was still lugging my MCQ TYS around and being regretfully anti-social)

Had lunch at The Protein Café outside GymmBoxx before Biology Paper 1 with Kai! I had the black pepper chicken pasta which was sosososo spicy and hot I took quite a while finishing it. :/ Have to start losing all the fat gained from stress-eating!

After Chem P1! It was the last paper for all the bio kids (except those taking H3) so while the rest were in a celebratory mood, I didn't get to revel in it as much. :/ but tea at Marché and window shopping did make me feel sane again, after the past four weeks of exams!

(Check out Audrey's sequential...fall?)

Surprised Hansol at her house with Cherie the morning of Physics Paper 1/her birthday! Knowing Hansol, she wouldn't need to study the morning before her paper so it was quite safe to surprise her then. I think she was surprised because she was expecting a surprise after the paper :> After chilling at her house for a while, we went to get lunch from Wah Chee and ate in AC! I borrowed Cherie's skirt and she borrowed Hansol's hahaha. The ACJC skirt is SO comfortable! Makes me feel a lot less fat around the waist - luv it!!

When they went to take the paper, I studied H3 for a while at AC's library before meeting Kai at Plaza Sing to go makeup shopping!! This was after he put a heck load of foundation on himself and the Sephora saleslady helped me put on foundation and powder. We didn't take a Before photo so you can't really see the change but it was really amazing!! Both of us were so intrigued by the powers of makeup lol it's basically like Photoshop that you apply on yourself :o

Dinner at Marché after my H3 paper!! I felt really prepared for H3 and enjoyed the paper so thank God for that :)

Day out with Chow as we (unintentionally) explored the CBD area watch Jon busk along Singapore River! I admired the way he tried to engage the audience when most of his audience were literally passers-by haha. It must take a lot of confidence to busk!!

RJ Farewell Assembly

Farewell Assembly aka last official day of school aka see you guys tomorrow for Econs mock post-mortem

was really cool not thinking about As for a good 4 hours or so, but most people (myself included) headed straight for the library after the reception...haha oh well at least I got to hang out with my friends for a while before going back to the grind!

will probably do a reflection about my 2 years in Raffles some other just feels so surreal to have graduated, y'know??? it literally just feels like yesterday when I received my acceptance/offer letter to RJ
